Data Sharing: How and Why?
A cyberinfrastructure for linguistic data would allow unprecedented access the empirical base of our field, but only if we collectively build that empirical base by contributing data. This panel addresses the benefits of data sharing and the obstacles to the widespread adoption of sharing practices, from the perspective of a variety of subfields.
Computational Methods: How and Why?
Computational methods allow us to systematically explore, analyze, and test hypotheses against much larger collections of data than can be managed by hand. This panel explores the state of the art in computational methods for linguistic analysis, and the emerging possibilities presented by new technology.
Working Group Reports
Cyberling 2009 working groups are exploring annotation standards, other standards, “killer apps”, data reliability and provenance, models from other fields, funding sources, and collaboration structure. In our final panel session, each working group will present their results.
Workshop results will be published on the Cyberling Wiki.
